For this Valentine’s Day, Brooklyn-based agency Huge decided to turn to technology and help those among us who aren’t poetically inclined to surprise our loved ones with a sonnet worthy of a Shakespeare.
It’s more than debatable how successful they were in the sense of emulating Shakespeare with their v*AI*lentine “machine intelligent love poem generator,” but one thing is sure, they made it fun.
In making the v*AI*lentine, which creates personalized AI-generated poetry, Huge fed the system with all 154 Shakespeare’s sonnets, and with the added inputs from the user about their loved one, this machine learning system serves you your sonnet based on your answers and its own algorithms.
These sonnets definitely sound like something from Shakespeare’s pen, albeit the words themselves are a bit of a mess. Creators said they intend to feed the system even more poets, musicians and artists, so the results will be even more interesting.
