President Donald Trump Signs Executive Order Holding Off TikTok Ban by 75 Days

President Trump signed an executive order Monday night to delay the law that would ban TikTok in the U.S. by 75 days. While signing the order, Trump told reporters, "The U.S. should be entitled to get half of TikTok."

It’s been a chaotic few days for the platform. On Friday, the Supreme Court upheld the law banning TikTok in the U.S. as of Jan. 19. The app briefly went dark on Saturday and was restored midday Sunday, with the company making a point to thank President Trump. Later that day, the platform also began alerting advertisers that campaigns targeting audiences in the U.S. would resume. (ADWEEK)

These 10 US Brands Spent the Most on TikTok Ads Last Year

Despite President Trump‘s executive order, whether TikTok can find a permanent way to stay online in America remains unclear. If it can’t, billions of advertising dollars are bound to migrate to alternative channels.

Data shows the brands that spent the most on TikTok. Last year, the app’s 10 largest U.S. advertisers – including Coca-Cola, Walmart, Target, and Procter & Gamble – each dedicated at least $45 million to paid media, according to marketing intelligence platform MediaRadar. (Campaign)

 Indie Agencies Seek a Competitive Edge as Talent Rejects WPP Office Mandate

WPP recently made a bold move as the first major company in the ad industry to mandate that its 100,000-plus employees globally return to the office four days per week.

The decision has gotten under the skin of many employees, and a petition pushing back on the mandate has garnered more than 18,000 signatures. It may also open a door for other agencies trying to lure talent with more flexible policies. 

The greatest resistance to this decision came from young talents in Indian WPP agencies.
