Porsche is continuing its ’Racing for Charity’ humanitarian initiative at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (24 Heures du Mans), set to take place on June 14 – 15, 2025. At this legendary endurance race held in France, considered one of the most prestigious and demanding events in global motorsport, Porsche will donate €500 for every lap completed by its three factory-run Porsche 963 race cars.
All funds raised will be donated to two organizations providing medical care for children: Kinderherzen retten e.V. and Interplast Germany e.V.
Since the launch of the initiative in 2023, Porsche has raised a total of €1,822,000, rounding the annual donation up to €911,000 each year in tribute to its iconic 911 model. In recognition of this commitment, Porsche received a special award in 2023 from the Le Mans organizer ACO.
This year, the hashtag #RacingForCharity will once again appear on the inner fenders of all three Porsche Penske Motorsport cars competing in the Hypercar class. In 2023, the cars completed 342 laps; in 2024, heavy rain limited that number to 311 – but every lap represented a new opportunity to help.
‘We are proud to be marking three years of ‘Racing for Charity’. If our sport can help disadvantaged or sick children, we do not hesitate. That has always been part of Porsche’s philosophy. Every lap at Le Mans carries a humanitarian value and that’s a powerful motivation for our team’ said Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport.
The initiative supports two organizations providing vital medical care to children from underprivileged regions. Kinderherzen retten e.V. brings children with congenital heart defects to Germany for life-saving surgeries at the University Hospital in Freiburg.
‘Thanks to Porsche’s donations, we’ve operated on 28 children so far including Sayed, a seven-year-old boy from Afghanistan whose condition was discovered due to constant fatigue. His surgery went well, and he recovered quickly. Today, he is living a normal life’, said Prof. Dr. Friedhelm Beyersdorf, founder of the organization.
Interplast Germany e.V. has been offering free surgeries for 45 years in impoverished and crisis-affected areas, treating congenital deformities, tumors, severe injuries, and burns.
‘We are sincerely grateful to Porsche for selecting us for support for the third consecutive year. I was especially moved by the story of Rhonda, a four-year-old girl from Tanzania who had to leave kindergarten because of a tumor. After a successful operation, she is now eagerly looking forward to starting school’, said Prof. Dr. Jürgen Dolderer of Interplast.
The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the world’s most renowned endurance race, held since 1923 on a unique blend of public roads and permanent track in north-western France. For Porsche, Le Mans holds deep significance – with 19 overall victories and 111 class wins, the brand is the most successful manufacturer in the race’s storied history.
Together with the Indianapolis 500 and the Monaco Grand Prix, Le Mans forms motorsport’s prestigious ‘Triple Crown.’ By combining elite racing performance with a powerful humanitarian purpose, Porsche proves that motorsport can be a force for good—lap by lap.
