On the first day of spring Zagreb will get a new meeting place of the communications industry, marketing, media and business. Its name is Picnic, and in its first edition, on Monday, 21 of March, it will bring guests from the Silicon Valley who will share the secrets of why the Silicon Valley emerged in California, and what needs to be done to jump onto the high-speed train.
First to share his experience with all those who will come to the first Picnic will be Russell Siegelman, who has been working for over 20 years in the Silicon Valley as an investor and director of companies, and is a professor at one of the most prestigious American universities, Stanford. For 11 years Siegelman was a partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, one of the most popular funds in California, and has also worked at Microsoft on the launch of a series of products. He is an investor in more than 40 tech startups. Along with Siegelman, also to come to Picnic are postgraduate students of the MBA programs at the prestigious American business schools, Stanford and Yale.
Agencies behind the Picnic project are Agency 404 and Pepermint, organizers of the largest communications festival in the region, Weekend Media Festival. “We want to explore the trends and opportunities, learn from the best, listen to inspiring lectures, meet key people, exchange opinions, talk about problems, have fun, hang out and together look at the future with optimism – and all this in one place. Picnic will bring together marketers, PR people, media professionals, company leaders, and all who love communications and the industry around it,” said director of the Agency 404, Nikola Vrdoljak.
Picnic is designed in two parts: the first part consists of lectures and discussions on current topics, and the second part is the party and networking.
“Picnic is a combination of entertainment, education and networking. We need such fun networking so that smart and creative people could meet in one place, exchange ideas, inspire each other and have a good time,” said Tomo Ricov, director of the agency Pepermint.
Picnic will be held in Zagreb every two months, and you can follow the news about it on the Facebook Picnic event.
