New awards, expanded categories, and ticket discounts: the main novelties of the 13th edition of SoMo Borac

The 13th edition of SoMo Borac, which rewards the best regional campaigns in the Media and Advertising streams, is approaching. Entries for projects to be evaluated are open until September 24, and the official award ceremony will be held on October 24 at the Mozaik Event Center in Zagreb.

The main sponsor of SoMo Borac for the fourth consecutive year is Aleph. The cooperation between SoMo Borac and Aleph focuses on achieving common goals in the development of digital marketing and strengthening the regional digital community. This year, Aleph is bringing a speaker from Pinterest, who will provide the audience at the full-day conference with more details about opening advertising on Pinterest in the region.

“SoMo Borac is one of the biggest and most relevant events in the field of digital marketing in this region and has become a center for the exchange of knowledge, the latest trends, and best practices from which everyone can learn something. Aleph is an active participant in the digital ecosystem and a representative of leading digital media platforms such as Amazon, Digital Turbine, Microsoft, Reddit, Spotify, Snapchat, Pinterest, TikTok, Twitter, and Twitch. We want to continue raising awareness about the importance of high standards in performance marketing and innovative solutions within digital advertising in this market. After the exclusive partnership with TikTok, which opened its doors to the region last year, this year Aleph is bringing Pinterest to the local market, hosted by SoMo Borac, where some of the most current topics in digital marketing will be discussed,” said Ivanka Mabić Gagić, Executive Director of Aleph Croatia.

Aleph also awards the Special Mention by Aleph prize, designed to highlight effectiveness and innovation in digital marketing, encouraging and rewarding best practices in the industry. Emphasis will be placed on campaigns demonstrating data-driven creativity, scalable results, and measurable ROI. Smart use of AI technology or advanced measurement methods is an additional plus. Entries from the SoMo Growth and Video Impact categories automatically qualify for Special Mention by Aleph. Those who wish to submit their work directly to this category will be able to do so free of charge. The winner will be decided by a special jury composed of the Aleph team.

The co-organizer of SoMo Borac for the third consecutive year is the Croatian Digital Publishers Association (HUDI), which contributes year after year to strengthening the Media stream and supporting the sharing of knowledge and resources within the digital publishing community. This year they introduced a new award, Northern Star, which will be given to projects, campaigns, and collaborations of media, advertisers, agencies, and institutions that contribute to strengthening independence, transparency, and innovation in Croatia’s digital ecosystem. It is open to all, but activities can only be nominated by HUDI members, while entries will be evaluated by the association’s executive board.

“With Northern Star we want to highlight an award that recognizes pioneers of our digital market – those who show that we can build sustainable and innovative models. In this way, we send a clear message that the Croatian digital media space has the strength, knowledge, and unity to shape its own future. SoMo Borac is the perfect place to present this award because it brings together the best regional projects, while we want to emphasize the importance of the local perspective,” said Ozren Kronja, Executive Director of HUDI.

Media publishers can submit their projects in the following categories: Best Media Feature, Digital Product of the Year, Digital Design of the Year, SoMo NATIVE, and Best Media Storytelling. In the Advertising stream, there are a total of 11 categories, including the new performance category SoMo Video Impact, which rewards video content that has achieved outstanding results. Eligible formats include YouTube videos, online series, video ads, branded content, and video-first content on social media, whether produced for digital channels or adapted for them.

Another novelty is the expansion of the Digital Product of the Year category, which has become international, allowing digital products intended for any market, within or outside the region, to be submitted this year.
