As part of International Creativity Week, April 21 will be marked as World Creativity and Innovation Day. It was founded by Canadian Merci Segal in Toronto in 2001. Since then, the United Nations have been celebrating this day, which over time has grew into a one-week celebration of creativity with a mission to encourage people to create new ideas, make new decisions, and take new steps towards makin the world, and our place in it, better through creativity.
The general intention of this event is for people everywhere to feel inspired, motivated and welcomed to use imagination, creative problem-solving, and ingenuity to explore potential first steps to effect better living conditions and positive social change, shared sense of survivability, global citizenship which includes collaboration and inclusive cocreation, progress toward achieving the 2030 Global Goals.
