Print media used to publish almost the same content on their websites as in their newspapers. Today, digital platforms have their own forms and original ways of transmitting information and storytelling that are fundamentally different from creating content for traditional media.
Digital media, as a means of information and education, have started to carefully balance the production of their own content such as analyses and columns and fast news readers expect on portals.
But journalists and editors are still facing the challenge of highlighting high-quality topics in their vast daily production, and how to raise number of readers. And there still the issue of being the first to publish a piece of news.
Even the editing of homepages of internet portals is no longer the same. They used to be edited only a couple of times a day. Today, users expect new information on the homepage every time they visit the portal. Hence, it’s no surprise that trends show a significant increase in article production, from about a dozen per day to several hundred texts per day.
With growing production of content, there is also an increase in consumption and retention on online portals. In the last ten years, Gemius research has shown that time spent on digital platforms has increased by as much as 50 to 100 percent on a monthly basis.
With the panel “New world order: How to produce content for the digital age”, the Weekend Media Festival will gather key media representatives to clarify what are the specifics of digital content production and distribution.
The largest regional communication festival this year will be held from 20th to 23rd of September, as always in the former tobacco factory in Rovinj, and the festival partners this year are France and Germany.
All marketers can also enter their works to the seventh BalCannes competition, and the best digital works in the region will also have the chance to win the most important digital award, the SoMo Borac.
Apart from the constructive and sometimes provocative discussions about trends in the communications industry, Weekend is also known for its top-notch entertainment program. Participants can once again expect a varied music program and socializing long into the night.
