Yesterday in Lauba the “3. Design Week Zagreb” (#tdzg2016) was presented. It will be held under the auspices of the mayor of Zagreb, Milan Bandić, the Zagreb Tourist Board and Croatian Chamber of Economy on more than 4,000 m² in the House of People and Art Lauba and the neighboring building Hauba. Partner region of the #tdzg2016 will be the Nordic countries – Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, whose designers are participating in the #tdzg Show of the Nordic Design where they will present innovative products.
“In the world of design, we turn to everyday life as a source of creativity. The world around us gives us inspiration and ideas that we nurture and improve. The design in our countries is minimalist, with clean, simple lines, and at the same time it’s a very functional design that contains only the essential elements. Design that you will see in this exhibition in many ways reflects our society – it is innovative, functional, practical and, although you can feel a certain Nordic spirit, it has a lot that highlights the peculiarities of each country,” reads the letter of the Nordic ambassadors.
For the first time there will be a Night of Design, on Friday, 6 May, when design will come to life throughout the city – at more than thirty partner locations where promotional events, cocktail parties, lectures or special sales campaigns will be held. In addition, at Augusta Cesarca street, near the European square, the Glamping Dome will be exhibited (Glamurous camping), a project done in collaboration with kupole.hr, which will be fully equipped with furniture and utensils of domestic companies. As every year, #tdzg2016 will bring together a number of experts in the field of design, who will share their experiences on the role of design in boosting the economy.
Given the large number of facilities and numerous events that are scheduled for this year’s Design Week, directors Tina Marković and Daniel Tomičić pointed out: “We expect that this #tdzg2016 will be even larger than the previous ones. Every year we raise the bar, and this year brings a wealth of content. Be sure to visit all #tdzg Partner locations and participate in the Night of Design on 6 May, because we have prepared a fantastic program and discounts. At the Auto(r) conference we will have a designer of cars from the popular MINI, a native of Rijeka – Ana Zadnik. #tdzg Market in Hauba offers visitors a unique opportunity to buy designer products at extremely reasonable prices. Two fashion shows, Food design program (where food will be printed with a 3D printer), numerous premieres, competitions, and of course entertainment program after 21.00 hours, all to socialize and relax.”
Especially important for Design Week this year is cooperation of #tdzg2016 and association Europa Donna. In cooperation with the Europa Donna Association, money will be collected to buy an intraoperative radiation device, so in marked locations visitors of the #tdzg will be able to donate money for the purchase of this device that saves lives. The daily schedule of events can be followed on Facebook and website pages of the Design Week.
