The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity has announced that Andy Jassy, President and CEO of Amazon, will receive the 2025 Media Person of the Year Award. This prestigious accolade is presented annually to an individual who has made a significant and lasting contribution to the creative communications industry and who plays a pivotal role in shaping the global media landscape.
The award celebrates leaders who not only operate successfully within the media industry but also push the boundaries through innovation, creativity, and a forward-thinking vision for the future of media. In this context, Jassy has been a key figure in transforming Amazon into one of the most influential and innovative media platforms of our time.
Philip Thomas, Chairman of Cannes Lions, stated that each year the festival honours individuals who redefine the media industry.
‛This year, we are especially proud to recognise Andy Jassy and the entire Amazon team. Amazon is not only the largest media platform in the world, but it has also set new standards in terms of scale, creativity, and influence – effectively building an entirely new model for the future of media. Andy’s visionary leadership continues to redefine the limits of what is possible in media, and we’re proud to honour him with this award‛, he said.
Past recipients of the Media Person of the Year Award include some of the industry’s most influential figures, such as Salar Kamangar (YouTube), Jack Dorsey (Twitter), Eric Schmidt (Google), Mark Zuckerberg (Meta), and Steve Ballmer (Microsoft).
Jassy will appear for a fireside chat on stage at the Debussy Theatre on 18 June, ahead of receiving the award that evening during the official Cannes Lions Awards Show.
