The Blend: Film & Games conference is becoming even more international this year: Zagreb will host its largest number of foreign guests so far, including top authors, producers, managers, and designers who have left their mark on the global film and video game scene. On October 2 and 3 at Algebra Bernays University in Zagreb, the audience can expect panel discussions, inspiring presentations, and free workshops, along with must-see film screenings.
This year’s Blend: Film & Games offers a program filled with panels featuring big names from the global film and gaming industries. Over two days, the audience will hear about the latest trends and practical experiences of those who have shaped international successes – from innovations at the intersection of film and games, to creative AI solutions that help stretch limited budgets, to Green Filming.
This year’s partner country is the Kingdom of Belgium, further emphasizing the international character of the conference. In recent years, Belgium has become recognized for the strong development of its creative industries, especially in film, animation, and video games.
Alongside lectures and panels, this year’s Blend also brings a series of workshops where participants will gain hands-on experience and new knowledge. Highlights include workshops on dubbing animated films, where the audience can lend their voices to their favorite cartoon characters; a workshop on sustainable practices in the film and gaming industries led by producer Morana Ikić Komljenović; and sessions on visual and technical innovations – from turning 2D illustrations into 3D spaces to structuring Unity projects for stable, professional game development. All workshops are free, but prior registration is required via [email protected].
In a dedicated hall, during both days, participants will also be able to watch student films from Vern University and the Academy of Dramatic Art, while in the lobby of Algebra Bernays University there will be booths from Croatian video game developers such as Bura, Baltazar, Dark Queen, and others.
Don’t miss keynote speakers such as Fernando Machado, the only two-time winner of the Adweek Grand Brand Genius award; Jorg Tittel, creator of the game The Last Worker which competed at the Venice Film Festival; Belgian producer Xavier Rombaut with more than fifteen years of experience in the film industry; and Pontus Rundqvist from the independent game publisher Raw Fury.
The Blend conference is organized by the Zagreb Film Office and Games Croatia (HAVC), with academic partner Algebra Bernays University, supported by the City Office for Culture and Civil Society and with the backing of film and gaming associations. The full program will be announced soon on the official website, where all 2024 video lectures are already available for free: www.blendzagreb.eu.
Admission to the conference is free with registration, open until October 1 at 18:00 via this link. All updates can be followed on the official conference website as well as on the social media of the Zagreb Film Office, Games Croatia, and Algebra Bernays University.
