Since December, Tesla’s Caravan has toured 14 towns across Serbia, and by the end of January it will visit another three cities where youngsters will have the opportunity to learn about the work and ideas of Nikola Tesla. Project Be like Tesla was launched by Samsung in cooperation with the Museum of Nikola Tesla and the Institute for Quality Education. The organizers tapped the Belgrade agency SVA to create and implement the campaign.
The aim of the Caravan is to teach as many children as possible about the work and ideas of Nikola Tesla through interactive lectures. Lectures are held in mobile Samsung smart classrooms where school pupils can see demonstrations of some of Tesla’s experiments and learn that without this great scientist there would be no electricity, computers, satellites, television and video systems or other major innovations in the world of new technologies.
“The kids are delighted. The concept is excellent, it’s adapted to the age and school children are introduced to the world of science and research in the right way at the right time. This is a model of active learning with the help of new digital technologies and there should be much more of it in our educational practice. It’s exactly this kind of modern form of teaching that should be used to present the works of all of our great minds to our children,” said the teachers who attended this modern form of teaching.
Project Be like Tesla is the result of many years of collaboration between Samsung and the Museum of Nikola Tesla, and is just one in a series of projects initiated amid marking of the 160th anniversary of the birth of the great scientist. This year Samsung opened the Research Centre at the Museum, equipped with the most advanced equipment and technology for faster and easier access to all of materials on Tesla in digital form. Also, in the exhibition part of the Museum, visitors now have at their disposal two interactive boards with a bilingual app (Serbian and English) that contains information about the life, achievements and the most important inventions of this renowned scientist, along with descriptions and photographs.
