One of the most respected and most successful Croatian marketing agencies, BBDO Zagreb, designed and implemented a spectacular campaign, one that even the world’s greatest advertisers would be proud to have. For the first time, not only in Croatia but also in Central and Southeastern Europe, the advertisement featured the iconic DeLorean.
Just by coming to the Croatian border (the car was transported by a special towing vehicle), the DoLorean became an internet hit as passersby posted photos and videos, following its every step on the way to the film set.
The basis for the film model was a stock DeLorean DMC-12, a futuristic and somewhat misunderstood project of John DeLorean, the legendary automotive visionary and engineer, specially renovated and “tuned up” for the film. The car used in the BBDO spot is identical to the one used in the movie, down to the smallest detail, from the exterior, props, LED lighting, to the recognizable time device and the control panel.
The idea and creative strategy were devised by Almir Okanović, chief creative officer of BBDO Zagreb, the account director on the project was Irena Kapetanović, and the art director was Ivana Klarić. The video was filmed at several locations in Zagreb: on European Square, at Gliptoteka (which was especially converted for the occasion into the old Zagreb brewery from the late 19th century), and at the main location, Ban Jelačić Square.
Judging by the reactions of consumers, and also of experts, this will certainly be one in a series of top-notch commercials that BBDO Zagreb makes for the brands of Zagreb Brewery and the entire Molson Coors Group, once again confirming that, when it comes to marketing, our creative and advertising professionals stand side by side with those in the West.
