IAB Discovery is a continuous educational and professional platform that, month after month, brings together representatives of the industry, regulatory institutions and related fields with the aim of opening relevant discussions on topics shaping the digital market. Through this format, IAB encourages the exchange of knowledge and experience and contributes to the development of a sustainable and responsible digital economy in Croatia.
The focus of the new edition is the event titled Rules of AI & Data Privacy You Can’t Ignore, which will take place on March 11 at 4 p.m. at Urania in Zagreb. Through expert lectures and a panel discussion, participants will address the question of how to align business objectives and accelerated technological progress with regulatory requirements in the field of privacy and data processing, particularly in the context of the increasingly intensive use of artificial intelligence tools.
The growing use of artificial intelligence tools in business, especially in marketing, raises questions about the lawfulness of data processing, the transparency of automated processes and responsibility for the outcomes produced by AI systems. Although the EU regulatory framework continues to evolve through the implementation of the GDPR and new AI rules, organisations already bear full responsibility for how they use these tools, which makes understanding regulations and assessing risks crucial for lawful implementation.
For this reason, the new edition of IAB Discovery places emphasis on practical questions from business practice. Participants can submit their dilemmas related to privacy, data processing and AI in advance, and experts will address them during the discussion, encouraging open dialogue between industry, regulators and the legal profession.
The March programme content was prepared by members of the Privacy and Data Protection Working Group: Mario Frančešević (SeekandHit), Marko Jambrešić (dentsu Croatia), Saša Milinović (OMD) and Dubravka Štefanac (A1 Hrvatska), who will open key questions of the regulatory and business framework from their respective perspectives.
The event at Urania begins with the introductory presentation Briefing: Inside the IAB Privacy & Data Protection Hub, in which Saša Milinović will address issues of privacy, data processing and the application of artificial intelligence in marketing from an industry perspective. This will be followed by the panel Official Answers to Your AI & Data Privacy Dilemmas, featuring Mario Frančešević, attorney Ivana Delalić, Anamarija Mladinić (Agencija za zaštitu osobnih podataka) and Andrea Čović Vidović (Predstavništvo Europske komisije u Hrvatskoj), with a focus on regulatory frameworks, GDPR compliance and concrete examples from practice.
Following the official part of the programme, an informal gathering is planned, with continued conversation and exchange of experiences.
