NUMBER OF WORKS ENTERED BY CLIENTS IN CANNES ON THE RISE, AS OVERALL NUMBERS DECLINE

A total of 41,170 entries across 24 categories are competing this year for Lions in Cannes. The nascent trend of clients entering work directly continues to grow strongly across all Lions, and is up 69% year on year.

Lions representing traditional channels, such as Outdoor and Print & Publishing, have experienced a decline in entry numbers, mirroring the changing shape of the communications landscape, accounting for the vast majority (80%) of the difference from 2016 entry numbers.

Reflecting the international nature of the Festival, there was a notable shift in the increase in work from the UAE, China and the LATAM region, and a resurgence of submissions from Brazil after several years of reduced participation offsetting slightly lower entry numbers from the UK and other Western European countries.

Digital Craft and the Entertainment Lion for Music, both launched in 2016, and report lower entry numbers in their second year, following an established pattern for new Lions before they enter a period of sustained and steady growth.

SEVEN GOLDEN RULES FOR CONNECTING TO OPEN WI-FI

Free Wi-Fi access at many locations is a phenomenal thing, but users should be aware that with it come numerous security risks. Here are the basic tips on how to be safer when connecting to internet this way, courtesy of N1.

  1. Don’t use Internet banking and don’t enter any data from your credit cards while you are connected to an open Wi-Fi network.
  2. When you are finished using the Internet, turn off your Wi-Fi.
  3. Use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) if possible.
  4. Don’t allow the machine to memorize previously connected open Wi-Fi networks.
  5. Pay attention to the name of the Wi-Fi network. Fraudsters often use similar names as ‘official’ Wi-Fi networks. Thus, in a cafe Morton’s for example you have ‘Mortons_Free’ network, and fraudsters can make their own network called ‘Morton_FreeWiFi’. You should always check that the network is official.
  6. Use a high quality anti-virus software and regularly update it.
  7. Rather choose networks that require at least some level of authentication.

FOR EACH TRANSACTION DONE WITH THE RAIFFEISEN MASTERCARD SHOPPING CARD, THE BANK WILL DONATE PART OF THE MONEY FOR CHARITY

“As a socially responsible company, we are trying to work in the interest of the communities in which we operate and we have been supporting the work of three organizations in various ways for long time now. Raiffeisen Bank this year is donating funds for each transaction payment which our clients conduct using the MasterCard Shopping card bearing the label MC World. In this way, the customers indirectly, by using the card, are helping the work of three associations whose beneficiaries are children and persons with special needs,” said Karlheinz Dobnigg, CEO of Raiffeisen Bank in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Whenever a client makes payment using Raiffeisen MasterCard Shopping card, labeled MC World, on the POS devices, the Bank allocates 0.10 BAM to charity. For example, this means that for every 1000 transactions using this card in BiH and the world, the Bank will donate 100 BAM (€50). The funds will eventually be donated to the associations: Heart for children suffering from cancer in FBiH, Sumero and SOS Children’s Villages in Sarajevo.

Shopping Card is specially created MasterCard revolving credit card which brings a large number of benefits such as payment in installments without interest and fees, the realization of additional discounts, SMS notifications on transactions and other.

BAGGIZMO WISEWARD SMART WALLET IS GOING FOR FOUNDING INVESTMENTS TO KICKSTARTER

The popular Croatian start-up Baggizmo launched its second campaign on Kickstarter, this time launching a tech product – the smart wallet Baggizmo Wiseward. Its basic function is to increase the security of credit cards and the protection of personal documents in a specially designed wallet through integrated technology. It is fully developed in Croatia by Baggizmo team led by Ladislav Juric. The result of this work is that the product contains sensors and electronics that the competitors did not dare to develop. Thanks to the “smart” functionality Baggizmo Wiseward completely shuts down the ubiquitous illegal collecting and stealing of data from contactless bank cards by means of the so-called card skimmers. Built-in Bluetooth technology connects the smart wallet from Baggizmo to your mobile device, reducing the possibility of loss, theft or forgetting your wallet, while through mobile app you receive a notice of change of the position of your wallet.

The goal of the campaign on Kickstarter is 35,000.00 USD, which would enable completion of production tools, start of production of the first series of smart wallet from Baggizma, and thus the product launch on the international market. The campaign runs until 14 July, so until then you can be among the first in the world who can buy the smart wallet from Baggizmo already at 69 USD, but also support the campaign with 5 USD and sharing on social networks.

HUGE SECRET ON iPHONE’S ORIGIN REVEALED

According to the book “The One Device: The secret history of the iPhone” former Apple CEO Steve Jobs did not want to produce mobile phones because he thought that smartphones will never be popular.

After the employees of the company pressured him, Jobs finally agreed that Apple could make the first smartphone.

Then, company’s best engineers suddenly disappeared, and very few people knew that they actually participated in the secret Apple project – they worked around the clock for two years on the first iPhone.

“iPhone is to blame for the fact that I am divorced. That device destroyed a lot of marriages,” said one of its developers. (Poslovni dnevnik)
