GOOGLE AND DNI INNOVATION FUND CALL FOR INNOVATIVE PROJECTS IN DIGITAL JOURNALISM
Google and DNI Innovation Fund for the third time call for applications for grants for innovative digital journalism projects. DNI Innovation Fund during 2016 issued €51 million in grants for 252 ambitious projects in the field of digital journalism. Currently, the third round of applications for funding is open. Applications are open until 20 April 2017.
Google created the DNI Innovation Fund in order to provide funds without any obligations for those who want to experiment. They opted for such financing because they believe that smaller organizations typically have the most revolutionary and most courageous ideas. With the DNI, they wanted to provide funding for these organizations for their development and progress.
Google looks for projects that represent new thinking in the practice of digital journalism, supporting the development of new business models, or even changing the way of reading digital news. In the third round they want to encourage applicants to discover new areas of monetization for potential new sources of revenue in journalism.
