PODRAVKA SUPPORTS “ZVEZDINE IGRE 2016”
The company Podravka supported the organization of the sports project “Zvezdine igre 2016” (Zvezda’s Games 2016) organized by the athletic club “Crvena Zvezda”, Belgrade. This event has a humanitarian character because the winning teams, with the help of sponsors, will donate food items or toys to children who live in the homes for children throughout Serbia. The project lasts from 20th of February to the 4th of June 2016.
“Zvezdine igre 2016” consists of 16 competing teams which will demonstrate their skills in 17 different disciplines. The games will be attended by companies, trade unions, universities and individuals, and the areas in which they will compete are athletics, bowling, archery, golf, chess, foosball, darts, poker, acting and cooking.
The first competition in cooking has drawn great attention. Competitive teams cooked with Vegeta and all sought to show their cooking skills in the best way. The only recipe that the teams used was their imagination and creativity. All this has contributed to a great atmosphere throughout the day, and the positive overall energy resulted in delicious and innovative dishes.
WPP’S MARTIN SORRELL ACKNOWLEDGES SEXISM IS AN INDUSTRYWIDE PROBLEM
At the 4A’s Transformation conference in Miami, WPP CEO Sir Martin Sorrell wasted no time diving into one of the industry’s most buzzed-about topics: the case against former J. Walter Thompson CEO Gustavo Martinez over alleged sexism and racism, filed against him by JWT chief communications officer Erin Johnson, and its implications for the industry as a whole.
“Whether you believe that Gustavo was innocent or guilty—which has yet to be determined in the court of law—in the court of public opinion, he has been judged guilty,” Sorrell said. “We thought it was in the interest of the company that he resign and be replaced [as global CEO] by Tamara Ingram.”
In a 4A’s presentation on Tuesday, Publicis Groupe CEO Maurice Lévy called the Martinez incident a “one-time mistake” and said, “I don’t believe what happened at JWT is endemic of what’s happening in our industry.” But Sorell said he “violently” disagreed with Lévy.
“Maurice has a habit of ignoring the facts,” he said. “When we get to senior levels of management, the number of women drops, unacceptably, to a third [of all executives]. We’re putting in programs for improvement, training people internally and externally on gender and racial bias. It’s not just looking at the charges against Gustavo Martinez, it’s looking elsewhere in the industry.”
YAHOO INVESTOR SEEKS TO REPLACE YAHOO’S ENTIRE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Yahoo investor Starboard Value nominated nine directors to the struggling web portal’s board, which it contends has been mismanaged under Chief Executive Officer Marissa Mayer. Starboard, an activist shareholder with 1.7% of Yahoo shares and a leading critic of the company, nominated its CEO, Jeffrey Smith, among others for election at Yahoo’s annual meeting later this year, according to a letter to shareholders. If successful, the hedge fund’s candidates could replace the incumbents on the board — including the two that were added recently.
EMarketer on Wednesday predicted that Yahoo’s overall ad revenue will fall 13.9% in 2016 while Google and Facebook grow, and that Yahoo’s share of the digital ad market will decline to 1.5%, from 2.1% in 2015.
AUDI SET UP FREE WIFI, TROLLS BMW 328I
Audi hits the New York Auto Show this week with the message that its A4 has surpassed the BMW 328i in many areas, like horsepower, acceleration and technologies including lane assist and CarPlay. And it’s taking some shots at BMW with a sly technology hack as well. Audi has set up a bunch of free wifi networks—wifi is typically hard to find at auto shows, and usually password-protected—and given them names that double as ads for the A4 (and in fact, as attack ads on the 328i as well).
The image shows an example of what the networks will look like.
John Matejczyk, founder and creative director of agency Muh-tay-zik | Hof-fer, which orchestrated the stunt, says the network names will be changing as the show goes on. There will be at least 10 networks on at a time.
JUSTIN BIEBER BECOMES THE FIRST ARTIST TO REACH 10BN VIEWS ON VEVO.
The video platform announced that the ‘What Do You Mean’ singer hit the milestone on Twitter. Vevo took Bieber’s entire six-year back catalogue into account when reaching the tally, revealing that videos from his most recent album Purpose had brought in close to half (4bn) of the views. The star has broken a host of online records. Toward the end of 2015, Purpose claimed the all-time record for the most streams of an album in one week. His debut single ‘Baby’ is the eighth most-watched YouTube video of all time with 1.3bn hits. Vevo is capitalising on the buzz currently engulfing the A-lister’s dedicated social following by asking his fandom, the Belieber’s, to vote for their favourite Beiber track.
