APPLE AND SAMSUNG PATCHING SECURITY HOLES BECAUSE OF CIA
Apple and Samsung have pledged to quickly solve the problem of the vulnerability of their products, after Wikileaks published documents on the alleged hacker attacks carried out by the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) on mobile phones and other devices.
In the published documents it is stated that the CIA exploited vulnerabilities in software and hardware systems, without informing their producers.
Apple said it will work on the rapid closure of these security holes.
“We always invite our users to download the latest version of iOS to make sure they have the latest security add-ons,” the statement from Apple said.
Samsung has also announced that users’ privacy and security of their devices are their highest priority.
CROATIAN PARALYMPIC COMMITTEE MARKS CONTINUATION OF COLLABORATION WITH BRUKETA&ŽINIĆ OM
All that is good, lasts long! Bruketa & Žinić OM and the Croatian Paralympic Committee (HPO) had a small ceremony to celebrate the continuation of the successful cooperation that has lasted for seven years, since 2010. Famous Croatian paralympic athletes – Anđela Mužinić, Kristijan Vincetić and Matija Grebenić on behalf of HPO, presented their partner with a special gift – the official jersey signed by medalists at the Paralympic Games in Rio – and thus announced the continuation of cooperation that will last until the Paralympic Games in Tokyo 2020.
HPO and the agency Bruketa & Žinić OM are bound in long and fruitful collaboration. Campaigns “What we don’t have makes us stronger”, “You can underestimate me as a person, but not as an athlete” and “There are no differences between real athletes. Fans make the difference” over the years influenced the public awareness and the awareness of sport institutions, and put the Paralympic sports and athletes on their rightful place – as equals with the Olympic sports.

MILLENIAL INVESTORS FOLLOW THEIR HEARTS TO LAP UP SNAP SHARES
Millenial investors have pounced on the initial public offering of Snapchat’s stock with young adults disproportionately represented among those buying and selling during a tumultuous few days of early trading for the technology business.
Since debuting last week, shares surged by more than 70% above the initial offer price within two days before an equally dramatic decline by a quarter in the period since.
Emotive decision making by many investors may be fueling these ups and downs according to Reuters which found many are piling in due to their affection for the brand rather than any realistic expectation of making a quick buck.
More battle hardened investors have remained far more cautious, despite Snap’s value surpassing $25bn, pointing out that it has struggled to generate profits and posted disappointing user growth.
EBAY RECRUITS IN-HOUSE ADVERTISING SALES TEAM TO DRIVE NEW PRODUCT ADS
Online auction house eBay has taken a leaf out of Amazon’s playbook by prioritising its own in-house advertising business for the first time, beginning the process of banning product ads linking to third party sites and bringing its own ad sales in-house.
eBay is in process of recruiting for its own advertising sales team to bring in the changes to assist brands in making sales directly from eBay.
Previously, eBay channeled all its energies into its core commercial operations but with just $313m in marketing services revenue in the fourth quarter, a 4% drop on the year before, the penny has finally dropped that it must do more.
TESCO CHAIRMAN SAYS ‘WHITE MEN ARE BECOMING AN ENDANGERED SPECIES’ COMMENT WAS MEANT TO BE FUNNY
Tesco’s chairman John Allan has claimed that his comment on white men becoming an “endangered species” in boardrooms was meant to be “humorous.”
Allan has faced a backlash from politicians, women’s groups and other business leaders for his controversial statement made at industry conference Retail Week Live last week.
He told attendees that “the pendulum has swung very significantly” and that it’s now an “extremely propitious period” to be “female and from an ethnic background and preferably both”.
“For a thousand years men have got most of these jobs, the pendulum has swung very significantly the other way now and will do for the foreseeable future I think,” he said.
“If you are a white male – tough – you are an endangered species and you are going to have to work twice as hard.”
He has since sought to clarify his position, telling The Guardian that “the context was [that] I was talking to a bunch of aspiring non-executive directors, many of whom were women, and I wanted to give them some encouragement and, therefore, I used that rather colourful turn of speech. It was intended to be humorous, a bit hyperbolic.“
