BILLBOARD FROM ZAGREB IN THE US MEDIA
Last Friday we published news of the provocative campaign of the American Institute in Zagreb, which calls for enrollment in the English language course with a billboard that features FLOTUS, Melania Trump. This news spread through social networks at lightning speed and was picked up by the US media on Saturday morning.
“Melania speaks not only English and her native Slovenian, but also French, Serbian and German.,” Newsweek wrote in their coverage, and also notes some of the comments left on the photo that appeared on some Facebook profiles.
Of course, besides the positive, there were a lot of ironic comments that allude that knowledge of English is not some huge success, let alone in the case of Melania Trump, “for whom English definitely wasn’t what brought her to Donald.”
ACADEMIAA 2017 OPENS
AcademIAA 2017, the educational program of IAA Serbian Chapter, was opened last Friday. This year’s program was officially launched in the presence of numerous officials, representatives of the marketing profession and program participants, and will run from 15 September to 15 December.
The AcademIAA program is a three-month education that provides students with a comprehensive view of the marketing communications industry through six modules. This is the second year that this program is being held. Six module coordinators have a great challenge ahead, but also an opportunity to shape new generations of leaders in the communications world over the next three months. In the selection process, 27 participants were selected as the most talented and most competent to invest in their knowledge. They will have the oportunity to listen to over 60 lectures from different fields and at the end of the program participate in the creation of a business case.
“AcademIAA is the most extensive and most intensive educational program organized by a national IAA branch. I can say with confidence that nowhere in Europe, within the IAA network, there is no such education,” said Jelena Ivanović, and called on students to take these lessons seriously, but also to have a good time in the next three months.

MORE THAN 4.5 THOUSAND PEOPLE AT MAGENTA 1 B2B RUN IN ZAGREB
The MAGENTA 1 B2B RUN is intended exclusively for the business community and in one place gathers employees of various companies, who compete in teams of at least three runners, and together, outside the workplace, strengthen the team spirit and build better connections.
This unique business gathering is held for the third year in a row, and Zagreb is the fourth city where MAGENTA 1 B2B RUN is held. Before Zagreb, business people gathered in Osijek, Rijeka and Split, and a total of almost 6,000 people participated in four towns.
“Such a great response confirms that companies have recognized that MAGENTA 1 B2B RUN contributes to improving employee communication and building relationships in business organizations,” said Diana Vetturelli, organizer of the MAGENTA 1 B2B RUN events.
GOOGLE TO SHUT DOWN AUTOPLAY VIDEOS AND OFFER USERS MORE CONTROL
Google is all set to put an end to the autoplay functions of videos in its Chrome browser by giving users more control over audio.
The changes will roll out in Chrome 64 ( to be released in October) where autoplay will be allowed when the user opts for the media to be played. These changes will also unify desktop and mobile web behavior, making web media development more predictable across platforms and browsers.
WPP IS MERGING 5 CONSULTANCIES AND DESIGN AGENCIES
WPP announced last week that it will combine five of its brand consultancies and design agencies to form a new global brand agency.
The new group, which has yet to be named, will combine Brand Union, The Partners, Lambie-Nairn, Addison Group and VBAT. The launch is set for January 2018, with the latter shop continuing to operate under its own name.
The network will include around 750 employees across 20 countries, with client billings estimated at over $100 million worldwide.
WPP’s decision to merge the entities seems to be keeping with reorganization trends at the holding company as it attempts to rebound from a disappointing first half of 2017.
