At the award ceremony of the 24th Golden Drum Festival, statuettes for best works were presented to the best works, selected by two prestigious juries. As the curtains fall for this year’s festival, preparations already begin for the next, jubilee 25th Golden Drum which will be held next October in Portorož.
While the impressions are still fresh, we asked winners from the Adriatic region to give us their first comments on the awards and this year’s festival.
Grey Ljubljana
Agency Grey Ljubljana won the Golden Drum Grand Prix – Activation Programme (Best Practice), Golden Drum – Digital (Best Piece), Silver Drum – Branded Content (Best Practice), Golden Drum Adriatic Award (Best Practice) and Silver Drum Adriatic Award (Best Piece)
Petra Krulc, Creative Director: “Golden Drum may be one of the smaller international advertising festivals, but the quality of the works submitted to it can rub shoulders with the greatest in the world. Proof of that are this year’s winner is, and that’s why the five awards we received at this year’s Golden Drum are even sweeter. Already after a couple of hours in the jury, it was clear to me that the competition was serious, because even the works that were shortlisted were already at an exceptional level. When your work is rewarded with the greatest recognition by creatives of the likes of the legendary John Mescall, you know you’ve done something good. I am very grateful for that experience.”
Imago Ogilvy
Agency Imago Ogilvy has won the Golden Drum Grand Prix and Silver Drum Adriatic with their project Dear Mr. President for Jamnica.
Ivana Mlinarić, Project Manager: “With this project we have proven that you don’t need a lot of money to implement a good idea, but effort, strength and strong will. That’s exactly what pushed us to the very limits to implement this project. Apart from being very proud of my team, because we have won two awards at this prestigious festival, the biggest reward for me is that we have indeed been able to make a change for the better in the world.”
Igor Mladinović, Chief Creative Director: “Many who congratulated me on this award said they would love to work on such a big project. But the truth is that there are no big and small projects, no big and small budgets, or big and small clients. There are only people who make a difference, and who make any project great. These people are Ivana and Darko, the people I worked with on this campaign, and I hope we will do many more, still waiting to become big.”
Darko Bosnar, Innovation Director: “A few years ago, when we set the vision that Imago would become an agency that will continually bring awards from the largest international festivals, many greeted the news with a smirk. Today, after winning almost all the most relevant global festivals, there is no better feeling than to reaffirm it every year with a new award. To win the Grand Prix in the PR category, which according to many is the category of the future, is a confirmation for us that we implement that which we dream in the best possible way.”
New Moment New Ideas Company Beograd
New Moment New Ideas Company has won the Golden Drum and the Golden Drum Adriatic with the project The One Book for Peace, which they did for the Inter-Religious Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Jasmina Nikolić, Client Service Director: “We are proud that the independent, international Single Channel Jury recognized our quality and proclaimed New Moment the most creative agency in this part of Europe. It’s a confirmation that we are on the right track because we believe that Balkan creativity can be part of the global market.”
Ana Šutić, Creative Director: “Given that New Moment is basically a regional network connecting nine countries of Southeast Europe, we have always had the goal of presenting Balkan creativity to the global scene in the best possible and most authentic way. That makes all the more important the fact that this time, for the work on The One Book For Peace project, besides global awards, we won special recognition at the regional level, and thus proved that an idea, energy and spirit have universal value.”
McCann Beograd
Agency McCann Beograd has won Golden Drum, Silver Drum Adriatic and Bronze Drum Adriatic for their democrARtisation project for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade.
Olivera Perković, Managing Director: “It’s a great success and joy for our team and especially for the digital department of the agency. I thank all the clients and partners who participated with their media space, and helped us to activate the msu ARt app and thus make the artworks from the MSU collections available to everyone. I’m particularly proud of the entire agency team that consistently achieves success at this festival. For us, the Golden Drum Festival has a great significance – it’s a confirmation of quality on the international scene and takes a special place.”
Senka Ristivojević, PR Manager of the Museum of Contemporary Art: “We are pleased that the jury recognized our joint efforts with the agency McCann Beograd and that one of the most important cultural institutions through modern technology is still available for those who love art. A particular satisfaction stems from the fact that the long period of reconstruction is behind us and that the museum will be open for visitors.”
Vladimir Ćosić, Digital Creative Director at McCann Beograd:
“We wanted to find a way for the wider public to enjoy top-notch artwork while the MSU is in the process of reconstruction. Employees of the Museum had the same idea – to find a way to overcome physical obstacles and make art accessible to the audience.”
Bruketa&Žinić&Grey
Agency Bruketa & Žinić & Grey won Silver in Design category and the Bronze Drum Adriatic with their work Hope.
Davor Bruketa, Creative Director: “After the D&AD Pencil, and then the award for the best design in printed communications from the London Design Week, as well as being shortlisted in Cannes, we are happy that the Golden Drum jury also recognized “Hope” and awarded it silver in the category of design and bronze at the level of all projects in the Adriatic region.”
