Following the trends of digital marketing is quite a complex and demanding job, but also very exciting and dynamic. Each year brings innovation! New devices, new software, new companies and new user platforms appear on the market, dictating a series of comprehensive changes in design and implementation, which are either accepted or ignored by users.
Those who are first to adopt new methods of online advertising and start actively using them in their everyday business will usually strike a serious blow to the competition, with the latter lagging behind, missing a key opportunity to maintain their market positions.
According to all the latest indicators, 2016 should bring considerable expansion in digital marketing and online advertising to all markets, including our mountainous Balkans. Here are some of the most current trends.
Video ads will start to dominate
Video ads are certainly nothing new; with social platforms such as YouTube, billions of video ads are delivered each year. There are, of course, Facebook and Bing as well, which already offer advertisers video advertising as an option. However, video advertising in 2016 will bring some novelties, primarily because Google has finally announced the possibility of placing keyword related video ads in searches.
Studies so far have shown that internet users are increasingly embracing video ads. From 2012 to 2014, views of video ads via mobile phones increased by 400 percent. In 2014, the average user spent 23 percent of their time watching video content of 30 to 60 minutes. Through their TV devices, as many as 81 percent of internet users watched videos longer than 10 minutes, and 65 percent watched video content for longer than 30 minutes. The latest research has forecast that by the year 2018, 69 percent of total internet traffic will be based on video content (Cisco).
The figures are too high to be ignored, and we can reasonably expect the continued growth of this trend, with the emergence of video ads in less expected, or completely unexpected, places. Regarding the announced Google innovations and ongoing development of YouTube, as well as the fact that the first and second search engines ranked by the number of visits worldwide have merged (YouTube is owned by Google), video advertising opportunities have become virtually unlimited.
CONCLUSION
So, if you haven’t already, you should definitely start to seriously think about increasing your video content on the internet. Your customers are increasingly looking to consume content through video, which is reflected in the trend of internet users watching longer video clips more and more.
Apart from that, you should invest in video advertising. If you already use Google or Facebook advertising, why not start investing in video ads? The average CTR for video ads is higher than for any other type of digital advertising.
The story of such trends on the internet is by no means exhausted with this article. There’s more to come.
