At the ceremony held this evening in Belgrade, the Association of Market Communications of Serbia (UEPS) awarded this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award to Slavimir Stojanović.
UEPS’ explanation of the award states:
“UEPS has awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award to Slavimir Stojanović for his Swedish minimalism, his Balkan sensibility, his universality of visual language, the richness of the message of the poor, simple images, his Monty Python-like humor, his Duško-Radić-like view on the everyday. Award for the multi-talented artist who, in a time when many advertising solutions are actually messages without words, creates superior messages – without words. With a few gestures – he says a lot!”
Slavimir Stojanović, a graphic designer, was born in 1969 in Belgrade.
After finishing high school of design, he studied at the Academy of Applied Arts in Belgrade, Department of Visual Communication as well as at the HDK (College of Design) in Gothenburg, Sweden, in the class of Hans Christer Eriksson.
He began to work professionally already at the age of 16.
He worked at the agencies Saatchi & Saatchi, Kompas Design, Arih Advertising, Communis DDB, and currently works at his own studio, Futro Design.
He has worked on commercial projects for many local and international clients, including: Sony, Michelin, Mercedes-Benz, Coca-Cola, Allied Domecque, Abanka, Triglav osiguranje, Ljubljanski Kinematografi, Studio Moderna, Delo Revije, Lisca, Gorenje, Europlakat, DrogaKolinska, MPC Holding, Entrix, Kozmo, Voda Vrnjci, Polimark, Idea, Atlantik Grupa, Knjaz Miloš, Plazma, Aqua Viva, Kabinet…
He also did a large number of projects for cultural institutions, such as the Yugoslav Drama Theater, Museum of Applied Art, Museum of Contemporary Art, Modern Art Gallery Ljubljana, Belgrade Cultural Center, Zvezdara Theater and many others.
Works of Slavimir Stojanović won over 300 international awards and recognitions, including: Epica, Cresta, Eurobest, Clio, Cannes Advertising Festival, London Advertising Festival Award, New York Advertising Festival Award, Golden Drum, Montreux Gold, Art Directors Club Annual Award, Type Directors Club Annual Award, Communication Arts Award, European Design Excellence Award, Global Award, Zgraf and more.
He was awarded Brumen Grand Prix for the best graphic design in Slovenia.
He has also won the Grand Prize Griffin for the best design in Serbia and Montenegro.
His works are in the collections of the Pompidou in Paris, the Museum of Art and Advertising in Hamburg, the Museum of Posters in Warsaw, the Museum of Applied Arts in Belgrade and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Novi Sad.
His creative oeuvre was written about by numerous international and Serbian magazines, including: Graphis, Communication Arts, Print, Creative Review, Novum, Computer Arts, Web Design, CMYK, M-Real, MM, Inside, Kvadart, Before After, Vizkultura, Supervizuelna…
He was included in the book Contemporary Graphic Design published by Tachen.
He was included in the book New Masters of Poster Design published by Rockport Publishers from USA.
His studio Futro Design was included in the selection of the 100 best design studios in the world.
He has participated in over 20 solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad.
As an author, he exhibits under the pseudonym Slavimir Futro.
He is the creator of the Futro lifestyle brand, as well as a series of picture books for children titled Adventures of Singi Lumba.
He regularly gives lectures and workshops at international festivals and conferences.
He worked as a visiting professor at the Faculty of Media and Communications Singidunum, as well as at the New Academy of Arts in Belgrade.
He lives and works in Belgrade.
