Thirteen members of the jury, headed by Bojan Kobal, will evaluate the wine labels entered to the Dubrovnik FestiWine Trophy competition. They will sample numerous wines, evaluate them and choose the best, and the partner of the festival, the ALH hotel group, will include the winning wines on the wine list of Excelsior hotel. The jury consists of domestic and foreign judges, wine experts, enologists, bloggers and wine promoters, whose international knowledge, experience and professional diversity guarantee an independent evaluation.
Bojan Kobal, the winner of numerous international competitions and licensed wine appraiser, this year presides over the jury: “This year, a jury of licensed judges has been formed. They know local wines, their characteristics and know how to link them to different varieties. Today we have tried many wines and the quality of the wine is very good. We are very surprised, there are virtually no weak samples, and the overall quality of the wines we have so far tasted is at the top level.”
Thanks to the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, which supported winemakers in participating in the festival, big international names will taste their wines and will take their impressions with them, beyond the borders of Croatia. It should be noted that the jury includes Mrs. Angela Muir of the United Kingdom who in 1980 won the title of MW (Master of Wine), and the distinguished sommelier Mira Šemić. Members of the jury are also Marin Berovič (Croatia / Slovenia), Franjo Francem (Croatia), Darrel Joseph (Austria / United States of America), Aleksandar Noršić (Croatia), Tihomir Prusina (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Quentin Sadler (United Kingdom) Jean Smullen (Ireland), Željko Suhadolnik (Croatia), Lars Torstenston (Sweden) and Dominique Vrigneau (United Kingdom).
Winners of the 5th Dubrovnik FestiWine Trophy will be unveiled on the final evening of the Festival on Saturday, April 21, at the Sunset Beach in Lapad Bay.
