The Dubrovnik FestiWine wine festival will be held for the fifth consecutive year in Dubrovnik, from the 16th to the 22nd of April 2018, organized by the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, and produced by the Dubrovnik PartneR agency. The festival is sponsored by its faithful sponsors and festival partners since its first day.
Dubrovnik FestiWine was created in 2014 as a regional wine festival, with the aim of promoting wine culture and autochthonous varieties of Dubrovnik-Neretva County, and since 2017 it has become an international festival, opening its doors to participants outside the county borders.
“This year, Dubrovnik FestiWine is marking its fifth birthday. We are pressing onwards with confident steps and our strategy of developing winemaking of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. We look forward to all exhibitors and their wines, to all visitors and wine connoisseurs, and we look forward to a healthy competition in which our county wines can further affirm their excellence,” said Nikola Dobroslavić, county prefect of Dubrovnik-Neretva County.
The wine exhibition of this year’s Dubrovnik FestiWine will take place on Friday and Saturday, 20 and 21 April 2018, in the splendid setting of the Sunset Beach in Lapad Bay. During the wine exhibition, along with the meetings of wine professionals with winemakers, there will be very attractive wine and culinary workshops, lectures and wine tastings.
The festival starts with the Dubrovnik Wine Seteman, within which numerous citizens of Dubrovnik and guests visit restaurants, taverns and wine bars labeled Wine Friendly, and try the top quality wines of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, which blend in with the fine delicacies of the Dubrovnik area.
The Dubrovnik FestiWine Trophy is a wine selection in which the internationally recognized jury, made up of domestic and foreign judges, winemakers, enologists, bloggers and wine promoters, led by Bojan Kobal, select the best wine of the festival. The results of the assessment and the best-placed wines will be announced on the closing evening of the festival on 21 April 2018.
Traditionally, during the Dubrovnik FestiWine visitors taste the wine ‘blind’, and choose those that go best with the indigenous delicacy – Ston oysters. The Blind date: In love with Ston Oysters has become a favorite event for festival sponsors, media partners, organizers and of course, professional judges.
On 19 April 2018, at the Excelsior Hotel, a festive dinner will be hosted at the FestiWine Gala, which will bring together seven winning wines from the last year’s festival and present the creative cuisine of young but proven chefs: the guest Igor Jagodic and host Petar Obad. As in the past years, the overall proceeds from this event are intended for scholarships of young talents from the field of culinary arts.
