In the spirit of support to those most in need, Direct Media has organized a humanitarian basketball tournament for its partners, and allocated funds for the tournament prize pool, which were entirely donated to the National Association of Parents of Children Suffering from Cancer (NURDOR).
The donation of €10,000 Euros, awarded by Direct Media together with the winner of the tournament, Mercator S team, will be used to purchase a diagnostic machine for the oncology department at the Institute for Health Care of Mother and Child “Dr Vukan Čupić”.
“This year the National Association of Parents Suffering from Cancer has marked 15 years of existence, and our mission is to provide the best conditions for treating children. We are doing this thanks to many friends like Direct Media, which has been with us for a long time and helped build the oncology department in Niš, and each year they enable us to mark the World Day of Children Suffering from Cancer at the Square of the Republic. Thank you Direct Media for this humane gesture,” said Marija Đurović, member of the NURDOR Steering Committee.
16 teams competed at the tournament, showing exemplary basketball skills: Adria Media Group, Beiersdorf, Color Press Group, Hellenic petroleum, Ipsos, Mercator S, Nielsen Audience Measurement Serbia, Real Grupa RGS, Ringier Axel Springer – Media Impact, SBB, Smart Plus Research, Strauss Adriatic and Tehnomanija.
“Thanks to our partners and their teams who responded to the tournament in such great numbers. We are delighted to promote our common values with activities like this, which are similar to those in sports, such as fair play and team spirit. I have to admit that teams played good basketball today is, but what this gathering makes special is the humanitarian character of the tournament, which is another value we share with our partners. We’ve been cooperating with NURDOR for years, creating communication campaigns and we’re happy to have helped this year with not only pro bono services, but also with a cash donation – for all the youngsters who are fighting, and we hope soon winning their fights,” said Jovan Stojanović, Chief Operating Officer Direct Media.
The Humanitarian basketball tournament was the central event of the Sports Day of the Direct Media, which was marked with day-long sport and recreational activities for employees.
