HOW TO WIN THE GOLDEN SEMPLER IN THE CATEGORY BEST USE OF DATA?

Marija Matić, Direct Media and the Jury Member of Sempler Awards 2017, shared her insights into how to win the coveted Golden Sempler in the Best Use of Data category:

“In this category, a winner is expected to fully cover the category title. Therefore, I recommend that you tailor your application form specifically for this category (last year we had cases where agencies submitted the same text and presentation for different categories).
Most importantly, you have to emphasise the data which have been sent, and indicate which industry and general tools and researches have been used to bring you the key insight. Later on, you have to show how those insights have been used in the preparation and realisation of the campaign strategy itself, and, most important, which campaign results were achieved precisely because of the use of such an approach.

“I would summarize briefly that this is a category that describes a “data driven” approach, whereby data analysis is expected to have an important value, especially if it’s the first party data. You also have to show smart use of data during the campaign’s realisation. At the same time, marketing and analytical approaches and terminology are expected from the applicants.” Marija concluded.

CANNES LIONS ORGANIZES ROUNDTABLE IN LONDON

McKinsey & Company and Cannes Lions are organizing a CMO Roundtable in London on 4 December, 2018 to explore ways to redefine creativity in the data-driven age.

McKinsey & Company and Cannes Lions worked together to quantify the impact of creativity and track the evolution of how modern marketing and creativity drive growth. OGILVY CROWNED AGENCY OF THE YEAR AT ELDORADO 2018 FESTIVAL

At the end of a three days’ trial, ElDorado festival in Bogota, Colombia, announced all the winners. The jury selected the winners from a list of 130 finalists that were distinguished from the 630 pieces, from 60 companies, and over 140 advertisers.

At the award ceremony of the festival’s 7th edition, the Agency of the Year was Ogilvy, while LIP was awarded as Independent Agency of the Year. On the other hand, El Tiempo was Best Advertiser.

UK ADVERTISING DELIVERS 20TH CONSECUTIVE QUARTER OF GROWTH

UK adspend rose 6.4% year-on-year to reach £5.6bn in Q2 2018 – the 20th consecutive quarter of market growth. Coupled with an overall adspend rise of 7.2% year-on-year during the first half of 2018, to a total of £11.4bn, this was both the strongest second quarter and first half since 2014.

This record investment, highlighted in Advertising Association/WARC Expenditure Report data, means full-year outlooks for 2018 and 2019 have been upgraded to +6.3% and +4.9% respectively. This would lead to a projected adspend total of over £23.5bn for 2018.
