WHAT’S BEHIND THE NEW VISUALS OF THE DAYS OF COMMUNICATIONS?
This year’s Days of Communication reflect a holistic view of communication. After the integration of online and offline, creativity and efficiency, and Cannes and Croatia, this year the festival integrates advertising and public relations through new program contents and lecturers. The image of a carousel conveniently fits into the whole story, as a symbol of constant motion around a central object, in this case integration.
At the same time, the carousel is a great link to the 359.99˚ integrated campaign. The remaining 0.01 degree that would round off the number represents the aspiration of the festival to keep up with industry trends, and the campaign says: “Hold on tight – if you slip even a bit, it’s game over!”
Unex Grupa, Zagreb-based agency that deals with integrated marketing communications, developed the creative concept, while illustration is signed by Danijel Žeželj. Comics, books and illustrations of this famous graphic designer and illustrator were featured in magazines and anthologies around the world. Žeželj currently lives between Zagreb and Brooklyn, and is working on a new comic series for the US publisher Image.
HDD: COUNTERFEITS, MISINFORMATION AND FROZEN IMAGES – DESIGN BY DALIBOR MARTINIS OF THE ‘70S AND THE ‘80S (23.2. – 9.3.2017)
On Thursday, February 23 at 20 pm, exhibition titled Counterfeits, Misinformation and Frozen Images – Design by Dalibor Martins of the ’70s and ’80s will open in the HDD Gallery. The exhibition presents an overview of the design work by Dalibor Martinis, mainly in the field of exhibition and movie posters, but also designs for the medium of television. Curators are Marko Golub and Dejan Kršić.
As one of the most important Croatian multimedia artist, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb recently held a large retrospective of Martinis’ works, while this small exhibition is a kind of a supplement which for the first time in one place processes the author’s relatively small but significant design work. In the context of the last few exhibitions held in the gallery of the Croatian Designers Society, the exhibition of design by Dalibor Martinis builds up on the exhibitions Yugoslav neo avant-garde art magazines and Information: Design for Culture by Željko Borčić, which in their own way spoke about the relationship between graphic design and conceptual art of the seventies. While the first one treated informal art communications network and visual languages of design and art, and the other tried to tackle the design and early artistic work by Željko Borčić, this Martinis’ mini-retrospective is thematically focused exclusively on the author’s design works, and in this respect, it’s the most conventional of the three.
